Description
From 2021 to 2024, I was an undergraduate project assistant for the CMU Entertainment Technology Outreach and Engagement team for a variety of projects relating to K-12 education, including ARCademy, an augmented reality platform for students and teachers to create virtual content within classrooms, and CMU's Augmented Reality Edge Network Architecture (ARENA), collaboriting with organizations including Pittsburgh Public Schools, the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh's MuseumLab, the UPMC Children's Hospital.
Role & Responsibilities
Rapid Prototyping for Augmented and Virtual Reality
- Created mockups, storyboards, and designs for educational XR projects
- Designed virtual 3D environments and animations using Unity, Autodesk Maya and LIDAR Scanned environments
- Created "Digital Twins" of Pittsburgh locations including the CMU Entertainment Technology Center Campus
- Prototyped interactive experiences using software including Unity XR, ARENA XR, and Touchdesigner, and worked closely with development team on polished iterations
General 2D Design
- Designed graphics for educational content
- Created illustrations for CMU ETC K-12 t-shirts, posters, and stickers

AR Garden
In June 2022 I, with the ARcademy team designed an AR flower garden that was designed to be fully customizable and deployed in the main atrium space at the UPMC Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh. Each of the virtual flowers were designed so that they would be able to be painted on paper and have their designs transferred into the virtual space.
Anouk Wipprecht & Victoria Modesta 3D Printed Prosthetics
In July 2022 I collaborated with designer Anouk Wipprecht and performance artist Viktoria Modesta to design and explore possibilities for 3D-printed prosthetics. Through the course of the month I conceptualized, revised, and modeled my designs for prosthetic legs and nails. This was featured in the exhibition "Redesigning the Body" at the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh.
Remake Learning Days: Rube Goldberg XR
For the 2023 Remake Learning Days Festival I worked with the CMU Entertainment Technology Center Outreach & Engagement team in collaboration the Pittsburgh School District to create an AR Rube Goldberg Experience. Each of our participating schools individual rube Goldberg machines were virtually connected through our ARENAXR scene in order to tell an overarching narrative.
